Since its beginning in 1990, the Conservancy has obtained conservation easements on over 3,300 acres of land, permanently protecting major blocks of green space. But it takes more than conservation easements to maintain our community's priceless combination of history and stunning natural beauty. That's why the Conservancy is committed to shaping public policy and working though public-private partnerships.
Through these partnerships - working with local jurisdictions, neighborhoods and like-minded organizations, the Conservancy can maximize our effectiveness and carry out our mission of protecting and preserving significant natural, scenic, agricultural and historic land in the James and York Rivers watersheds.
But our biggest challenges lie ahead. Significant growth is on the horizon -- the population of this region is projected to double in the next decade. The Conservancy's role in land preservation is more important than ever!
If you share in our conviction that conserving and stewarding land for future generations is paramount, then we invite you to become a stakeholder in the Williamsburg Land Conservancy. You'll have a voice in critical issues that affect our unique and environmentally sensitive community. Join the Conservancy today -- your membership can make a difference!
